Amiga A500++ Rebuild / Repair Service for Corrosion Damaged Boards

  

A new main board has been reverse engineered and produced by Rob "Peepo" Taylor to replace the corrosion damaged board in these computers. , I can offer a full service build using a mixture of orginal parts from the damaged board and new parts where needed. I would generally fit all new resistors, capacitors, IC sockets, transistors, and most of the logic ICs. From your original board I use most of the connectors and main ICs, together with a handful of obsolete or difficult to obtain parts such as the oscillator, crystal, line filter etc.

All ICs are socketed for easier fault-finding / replacing in the future. The A500++ board has jumpers to select whether the internal or external drive is DF0: and uses a replaceable battery rather than the old Varta one. My price includes a new board (ask for a discount if you already have an A500++ board), assumes that all main chips are working and that the other parts to be taken from the board are in good condition. Should any parts not be suitable I will contact you as soon as practicable to discuss options. I would normally expect to take between 2 and 3 weeks from receipt of your original board until the replacement board is ready.

Please note that the price for this service assumes you are sending the A500+ board only, no case, disk drive, keyboard, power supply etc. Please contact me if you need extra work to be done. Board fitted with most components for you to finish off using components from your existing A500+ board (you will need desoldering and soldering skills).

Complete A500++ Board, fully populated and ready to install into your existing A500 or A500+ case. Where part are not available, or where the price is not acceptable, I will fit a socket wherever possible and the normal labour cost only will apply.

Customers can then fit their own part at a later date. This applies providing a previous repair has not been attempted. In the 1980s I started my own business repairing and manufacturing computers. I worked primarily on Spectrums, C64 and BBC Micros, but also on other home computers and PCs from IBM, etc. I sell and repair machines from time to time to help fund my own collection of computers, test equipment, tools etc. Also, due to the age of the computers I repair, there is a larger risk of component failure than with new parts. Accordingly, in the event of any failure of a repair that I have undertaken (other than cosmetic), I will further repair free of any labour costs for at least 3 months from date of original repair.
